Organized by Macao Science Center (MSC), and co-organized by Macao Innovation & Invention Association, “Invention Exhibition” is officially opened to public today. From now until 18 June, this wonderful exhibition will be held at Gallery 2 of the Exhibition Center.

Presiding our opening ceremony were officiating guests Mr. Tong Chi Kin, Vice-President of MSC, Dr. Shiunn-Shyang Chen, Curator of Taiwan National Science & Technology Museum (NSTM), Mr. Lai Pak Keong, President of Macao Innovation & Invention Association, Mr. Pan Sio, Curator of MSC, and Mr. Sylvester Cheong, Deputy Curator of MSC.

Inventions were made to help solve problems and to improve our lives since the beginning of time. From paper invented by Cai Lun, incandescent electric light bulb by Thomas Edison to cell phone by Martin Cooper, all of these inventions have made our daily lives more comfortable and easier. Thanks to their creativity and relentless effort to improve existing products, inventors have made great contributions to the civilization of mankind.

The Exhibition consists of 2 parts, “Innovative Invention Thinking” and “Daily Commodity Invention”. Apart from introducing the “40 Principles from Inventors”, there are a number of daily commodities made exhibits for the public to get to know more about the innovative concepts, and scientific principles behind these inventions. By breaking through the maze and operating the interactive exhibits and models, visitors will be inspired by the interesting inventions that we use in everyday lives. There is a Macao Exhibits Area showcasing the award winning inventions and science works of local students and individuals which they won international competitions. This area allows visitors to learn more about the current status of local invention, and to promote the progress and development of science and technology in Macao.

Dr. Shiunn-Shyang Chen, Curator of NSTM is going to give a talk on the topic “The Creative Invention of NSTM” at 3pm to 6pm tomorrow (11 March) at Science Express Gallery (Gallery 5) of the Exhibition Center. The first 100 participants will receive a small gift. All are welcome to join.

Other related activities include: “Quest for Invention Exploration”, visitors are encouraged to collect stamps hidden in the exhibition to receive a small gift. “Small Invention, Big Discovery” Workshop, to experience the fun and the process of new invention through observing the products and tools we use in our daily lives. “Report Captain! This is How Inventions are Made!” dramatic tour are suitable for all ages, visitors will become one of the members of the invention team, and the drama will lead them to experience the challenges they will face in the invention process.
