An explanatory session will be held at the Macao Science Center, at 5:00 pm on February 15, for a briefing related to " Meteorological Science Game Programming Competition". The competition is co-hosted by the Macau Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau and the Macao Science Center, and the objective is to raise public awareness on the prevention and mitigation of meteorological disasters and increase public interest in applications for mobile devices and in using technology. Registration is open to all Macao secondary school students interested in designing applications for smartphones.

The competition will have two categories, namely, junior high and high school categories. Competitors will design a mobile application for "Meteorological Disasters" or "Disaster Prevention and Mitigation", in the form of cartoon, or electronic game that is practical or healthy. Application form together with the entry digital file should be submitted by May 26 by uploading to the "cloud".

At the beginning of March, the Macao Science Center will provide a professional training course on "App Inventor" in order to increase students' skills in programming. In addition to winning prizes, winners may have the chance to make their works available to the public through the Android system's app store.
