This December, Macao Science Center has prepared a series of entertaining activities to celebrate
its 5th Anniversary.
As one of our 5th anniversary main attractions, on 28th of November, our Planetarium will launch
“Cocomong - A Space Adventure” Dome Show. As the winner of the “Best Children Production
Award” in IPS-Macao International Fulldome Festival 2014 and the “Audience Award” in 2012
International Planetarium Movie Festival, this Dome Show tells our young audience about the
predicament our alien friend Halley is trying to solve with their help of Cocomong and his friends.
The Virus King stole the Star Gems and kidnapped his parents. Cocomong and his friends will try to
save Halley’s parents and retrieve the Star Gems that were stolen. Will they succeed? Don’t let your
children miss out on this mission; bring them to the Macao science Center’s Planetarium!
Have you ever heard about DNA Transcription and Translation? Do you know who Gregor Mendel
was or who Paul Berg is? This December, the Center is going to open its new themed featured
gallery – the DNA Gallery where visitors can learn the basics of DNA and biotechnology, such as cells,
genes, chromosomes, cloning technology and so on.
During our celebration month, the Center is going to feature the all-new science drama “The Rocket
Trilogy Chapter 2 – The Nations of Spicy and Sour”. Through the funny and light-hearted dramatic
performance, the audience will see the delicate balance between science and morality.
The Center will also open the Award-winning Works Exhibitions of both the “2014 Macao Science
Center Multimedia Design Contest”, and the “Macao Science Center on Camera” Photo Contest 2014
in the Lobby Exhibition Gallery. Here, the public will have the opportunity to admire the works of the
interactive exhibits and digital photography to visually express MSC’s unique structure and
educational activities.
As its holiday tradition, to celebrate our anniversary, the Center will offer free admission to the
Exhibition Center for all visitors and free admission for the first 30 local Macao residents to each Dome
Show at the Planetarium on the 19th of and 20th of December. In addition, from 19 December 2014 to 4
January 2015, seven Dome Shows will be scheduled starting at 11 a.m. daily. For details, please refer to
the Center’s website at www.msc.org.mo.
Finally, the Center will hold its “2015 Macao Science Center Multimedia Design Contest”, which will
open for entries from 3 December 2014. This year our successful contest will focus on two categories:
the “Science Education Video and Model Making” and the “Short Video Production”. If you are
