To celebrate its 10th anniversary, the Macao Science Center (MSC) has prepared a number of exciting programs and events, starting with the inauguration ceremony of the Nautical Science Gallery. officiating guests included President of Macao Science Center Mr. Lau Si Io; Vice-Presidents Mr. Tong Chi Kin, Mr. Steven Lei, and Ms. Ho Kuai Leng; members of the Board of Directors Mr. Dominic Sio, Mr. Alex Mok, Mr. K. L. Tong, Mr. Jonathan Wong, Mr. Chan Kam Meng, and Ms. Azedo Augusto, Isabel; the Head of Maritime Activities Department, Marine and Water Bureau, Mr. Wu Chu Pang; as well as Curator of Macao Science Center, Mr. Pan Sio and Deputy Curator, Mr. Sylvester Cheong.

The renovated Nautical Science Gallery offers popular science demonstrations and core science drama shows and is also an ideal background for taking pictures. The new gallery introduces the public to the knowledge of nautical science and shipbuilding, while also displaying several hand-made ship models to illustrate a ship's structure. Furthermore, visitors can get up on the deck of the Science Explorer, put on a sailor suit and cap, and take a fantastic picture at the rudder.

The Planetarium will launch on December 15 a new Dome 3D film, Lucia, the Secret of Shooting Stars. It’s an adventure story: James is a penguin from the South Pole who dreams to become a scientist, and Vladimir a quirky polar bear from the North Pole. Both go on an adventure and come across Lucia, a small hummingbird, who tells them about the legend of “stones of light”. Trying to find the mysterious stones, the three explorers soon start a thrilling trip to the Moon, the asteroid belt and a comet! At the end they manage to unravel the mystery using scientific thinking.

Admission to the Exhibition Centre will be free on December 19 and 20 (that is, on MSC anniversary day and the day after), while the first thirty Macao Residents to each Dome program at the Planetarium will also get free admission. Additionally, from 11am onward during December 19, 2019 and January 4, 2020, the Planetarium will offer extra screenings.
