A Series of Activities Celebrating Macao Science Center's 12th Anniversary
The Macao Science Center (MSC) will celebrate its 12th anniversary on the 19th of this month. MSC has prepared many exciting exhibitions and programs to celebrate the 12th birthday and Christmas with Macao residents and visitors.
Starting from December 3, MSC will host the Sanrio characters Green Technology Carnival, a cooperation with Sanrio for the first time, featuring several popular characters, including Hello Kitty, Little Twin Stars and Pompompurin. They will become adorable Green Technology Ambassadors in a new look to introduce the green building elements and green technology related knowledge inside and outside the Center. A number of three-dimensional installations and popular photo spots are set up for visitors, certainly, the most eye-catching of which is the 5m tall giant inflatable Hello Kitty, which will light up at night to create a fun and joyful atmosphere. There are also treasure hunts and coloring activities in the exhibition center for children to collect cute stamps while learning to be a green tech talent. The Center's gift shop will also offer a variety of limited edition crossover souvenirs for visitors, which is unmissable for fans. The Acting President of MSC, Mr. Tong Chi Kin, Vice-President of MSC, Mr. Steven Lei, Curator, Mr. Pan Sio and Deputy Curator Mr. Sylvester Cheong, had officiated the event days ago.
The Ancient Chinese Inventions Experience exhibition, currently on display in Gallery 6, is a crystallization of the technological wisdom of ancient China. The exhibition is divided into five sections: agriculture and handicrafts, transportation and military geography, engineering, medicine and ancient discoveries and creations, presenting more than 30 ancient Chinese technological achievements that have had a profound impact on future generations through interactive visualization technology. At the same time, the exhibition Data Science - Internet of Things is also on display in Gallery 2. The exhibition uses a number of virtual reality and interactive experiences, together with interesting theatrical guided tours, to introduce to the public the new technological developments and knowledge in the information and communications industry, as well as the impact of the Internet of Things on daily life and urban development.
Starting from December 17, the Planetarium will launch a new dome show Magic Earth 3D, which tells the story of a little girl, Mia, who uses a mysterious astronomical machine to change the seasons of the Earth and introduce the science of the changing seasons to the audience. Apart from the above activities, the Exhibition Center will be open for free as always on December 19 and 20 (the day and next day of the anniversary). The first 30 visitors to each dome show of the Planetarium will receive a free ticket. From December 19, 2020, to January 2, 2021, the Planetarium will add dome shows from 11:00 in the morning.
