To support the Macao SAR government for the COVID-19 pandemic control, the Macao Science Center organized more than 60 employees to participate in the nucleic acid testing for key populations and support the fourth to sixth rounds of nucleic acid testing for the entire people. Since July 3, MSC has sent a number of employees to the gymnasium of the Escola Luso-Chinesa Técnico-Profissional and the nucleic acid testing station of Pui Ching Middle School to assist in the public grouping, registration, maintenance of order and distribution of anti-pandemic materials, hoping to share the pressure of the front-line workers and contributing to the fight against the COVID-19.

    Members of the MSC Anti-pandemic Support Team are from various departments within the Center, and it is the first time for some of them to participate in volunteer work. Fearless of the risk of infection in the community or torridity, they all wore protective suits and actively participated in various support work at the nucleic acid testing station day and night to fulfill their social responsibilities and serve the needy, especially the elderly and the disabled in the spirit of mutual assistance.

    Members of the MSC Anti-pandemic Support Team expressed that they were duty-bound to respond to the SAR government's measures to prevent and control the pandemic. It was meaningful for them to serve the community by joining the anti-pandemic support team to promote smooth nucleic acid testing for the entire people. Although the team members often have to endure the bad weather and sweat in their protective suits for a long time while on duty at the nucleic acid testing station, they felt that all their efforts and dedication had not been in vain when they worked with the front-line medical and related staff or residents say “Go!” or “Thank you!” to them, which motivated them to stick to their posts and continue to support the fight against the pandemic.

    In order to help students make good use of their spare time to continue to learn science online during the fight against the pandemic, the Macao Science Center regularly launched daily short science popularization and education videos on different topics on the YouTube channel of the “MSC Online Educational Resource Platform” and the MSC WeChat subscription at the beginning of the pandemic. The platform is free of charge and is suitable for primary and secondary school students or people who are interested in science applications. The public can visit the YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/Mscmacao) of the Macao Science Center or follow the MSC WeChat subscription to watch the science popularization and education videos on the Online Educational Resource Platform, and check the program schedule on MSC's website (www.msc.org.mo) or social media.
