Macao Science Center Will Hold A Series of Science Popularization Events of "Science for the Future" in September to Share Science and Technology with the Public and Respond to the 2022 National Science Day
In response to the 2022 National Science Day launched by the China Association for Science and Technology in September across the country, further strengthen the science popularization and education in Macao and enhance the scientific literacy of students, Macao Science Center will arrange a total of nearly 40 activities every day from September 1 to 30 with the theme of "Science for the Future", including: expert lectures on national scientific and technological achievements, science popularization drama of Chinese scientist spirit, experiential science demonstrations, Starry Night astronomical science popularization activities, science-music crossover performances, night tour to MSC, as well as a series of activities such as MSC-school cooperation and teacher training. In addition, MSC will enrich the online education resource platform and the Chinese scientist spirit podcast series to bring a feast of science and technology to the public, including children, teenagers, students and teachers.
To support National Science Day, the Center will launch a series of "Science for the Future" activities in September, including a lecture on "Science for the Future - National Science and Technology Development and Achievements" at the Convention Hall on National Science Day. Prof. Kam-Weng Tam and Prof. Pui-In Mak of the University of Macau and Mr. Lao Kun Wa of Pui Ching Middle School shared the development of STEM education in Macao, the cultivation of talent in chip design and the latest technological development of China respectively, so as to support teachers to understand the national situation and boost education on the achievements of China's technological development. On the same day, a new series of science demonstrations " Fun Science Experience Series" will be launched, in which science commentators will experience indoor parachuting and explain the related science knowledge. Macao Science Center will cooperate with Macao Orchestra again to present a science-music crossover performance, "Science and Music Festival - Music ‧ Kaleidoscope in the Universe", which will explore the subtle relationship between music and science through creative and interesting performance.
Meanwhile, MSC will launch a new science drama series, "Spirit of Chinese Scientists: Meeting Chinese Scientists in the Metaverse - Huang Danian" from September 22, which will present the pioneering work and hard work of Prof. Huang Danian, a Chinese geophysicist and internationally renowned strategic scientist, as well as the significant scientific achievements of his team in the field of airborne geophysics for China. The Center will take this opportunity to promote the spirit of Chinese scientists among young people and help them develop a love of science, a pursuit for innovation, a respect for knowledge and a dedication to science.
In the same month, MSC will organize four "Starry Night" astronomical science popularization activities. On September 3, Mr. Cheang Kun Hong, a renowned stargazer and astrophotographer, will share his experience of photographing the beautiful starry sky around the world with the audience online at the Planetarium. The themes of the "Starry Night" on September 17 and 24 are "Chasing the Chinese Space Station" and "Windows to The Universe: Planetariums All over The World", respectively. These activities are suitable for teenagers or adults who are interested in learning about astrophotography or national space technology. To celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, on September 10, an outdoor event will be held to enjoy the glorious full moon. Apart from setting up an astronomical telescope at the seawall area for the public to enjoy the moon, science commentators will also be arranged to introduce to the participants the science knowledge related to the moon.
In addition, the Center will organize a night tour to MSC in September, as well as a number of MSC-school cooperation and teacher training sessions. MSC will launch programs such as "Learning Knowledge in Fun" and the Chinese scientist spirit podcast series on its online education resource platform, bringing a wonderful feast of science and technology to students, teachers and the public.
