Macao Science Center Is Committed to Promoting Astronomical Science Popularization and Education

and Sparing No Effort to Cultivate Space Science and Technological Talent

The selection of the fourth batch of preparatory astronauts in China has recently started. The Macao SAR Government participates in the development of the national space industry with support from the Central Government and will select load experts in Macao for space experimental research and operation of space experimental equipment, fully demonstrating the care and support of the State for Macao.

As one of the national science popularization and education bases, the Macao Science Center has always been committed to promoting astronomical science popularization and education for young people in Macao. It actively leverages its strengths to provide the public with dome shows such as "Starry Night" and "SKY KIDS" and astronomical science popularization activities through the hemispherical screen at the Planetarium with high-resolution stereoscopic digital projectors and digital systems, so as to enrich the understanding of astronomy among young people and the public.

To further enhance the understanding of the development of China's space technology among science popularization teachers in Macao, the Center recently organized a professional development activity on the "History of China's Space Development" dedicated to science popularization teachers of primary and secondary schools, introducing the development history and key points of China's space technology, which attracted nearly 90 teachers from 42 schools. The activity introduced the history of national space technology development and achievements, such as the national "Two Bombs and One Satellite" and "863 Project", the Long March Launch Vehicle, China's manned space projects and Chinese astronauts, China's artificial satellites in various fields, BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS), Chinese Lunar Exploration Program (CLEP) and Chang E Project, China Space Station, planetary exploration mission and deep space exploration. The activity supported the development of astronomical science popularization and education in schools by providing teachers with more systematic teaching resources on the achievements of national space technology. At the same time, it also enhanced teachers' family-country affection and further deepened the connotation of the education of love for the motherland and Macao.

In the future, the Macao Science Center will continue to cooperate with the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) to support the SAR Government's policies for the development of education and youth, create educational resources, assist students in their career planning, and promote the cultivation of Macao's scientific and technological innovation talent. At the same time, it will make full use of the facilities and resources of the national science popularization and education base to boost the development of science education in Macao by offering more diversified and appropriate training courses for science popularization and education personnel, enhance the function of the Center as a platform for science education and exhibition, and carry out diversified science education activities to deepen the understanding of Macao's teaching personnel, students, youth and the public of the high and new technologies of the country.
