Macao Science Center falls in love under the starry sky

This year, Macao Science Center will celebrate Valentine’s Day by “Falling in Love under the Starry Sky”. This event features a love-inspired exhibition in the lobby, “Love, Science 1.0”, and a themed 3D painting in front of our heart-shaped banyan tree where couples can pose for a romantic photo. Moreover, the Planetarium will organise a public lecture on astronomy immortalised love legends, enabling the audience to enjoy a complimentary Sky Show along with the regular dome shows. The Valentine’s Day special program was launched earlier today by Mr. Lau Si Io, President of Macao Science Center.

On the 13th of February the Macao Science Center fans will be able to enjoy the all new Dome show “Back to the Moon for Good”. This movie will change the audience’s perspective on how they see the Moon. Not only does it highlight the Moon’s discovery 40 years ago, it’s origin, composition and structure but also provides an insider’s look on the 30 privately funded teams from 16 different countries competing for the 30 million dollar Google Lunar XPRIZE, the largest incentivized prize in history.

Winner of the IPS-MIFF 2014 Best Planetarian Choice Award and of the Jena Fulldome Festival 2014 Producer’s Award, and wonderfully narrated by Tim Allen, the show will surely entice the audience’s imagination by giving a glimpse of a possible future settlement on the Moon. Imagine that “…Winning the XPRIZE is just the beginning for science, the environment … energy and new industries … even provide a platform to explore other planets.”

And to better celebrate the Year of the Ram, from 19-23 February, the Macao Science Center’s Planetarium shall add two additional sessions to its usual schedule, to accommodate the higher demand for Planetarium shows during the Lunar New Year’s holidays. Furthermore, one more session will also be added between the 24-27 February, summing up to 7 daily show projections. Please refer to the Center’s website (www.msc.org.mo), facebook, Twitter or Sina Weibo fan pages for more details.
