Macao Science Center Celebrates Its 13th Anniversary with a Series of Exciting Programs

The Macao Science Center (MSC) will celebrate its 13th anniversary on December 19. The Center has prepared a series of exciting exhibitions and programs to celebrate the 13th birthday with Macao citizens and visitors. Therefore, admission to the Exhibition Center of MSC will be free on December 19 and 20, while the first 30 Macao resident visitors to each dome show at the Planetarium will also enjoy free admission.

Moreover, from December 16, the Planetarium will launch a new stereo dome show of Mission: Light 3D. The story tells that in order to find out the cause of the gradually fading sunshine, GranPa and the granddaughter Zoe, who live on the ranch in the middle of the Australian desert, take a spaceship to the Hubble Telescope, only through which do they discover that it is a strange cloud of gas that blocks the light. Besides, GrandPa discloses the plot of the big bad egg Bogbog, and carries out a manhunt immediately.

In addition to the 'MACAO VAST -- Visual Experience Hall' that is being held in Gallery 2, the Center launched the exhibition of 'Cubes' in Gallery 6 earlier, for which the students from 2022 Professional Diploma in Museum Management at School of Liberal Arts of Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) were invited to participate in. The 11 participants' distinctive graduation works covering both ancient and modern themes present their knowledge of museums and the diverse cooperation fruits between the Center and MUST through models, AR and NFC technologies. The exhibition of 'Cubes' runs by December 16.

Hosted by the Lettering Artists Association of Macau (LAAOM), sponsored by the Cultural Development Fund of Macao Special Administrative Region Government, with the venue sponsored by MSC, the Western Calligraphy Annual Exhibition - Handicraft Art in an Era of Technology will be held in its Lobby Exhibition Gallery and the atrium of the Exhibition Center from December 10 to January 8 next year. Regarding 'Techniques in the Age of Science and Technology' as the exhibition theme, the host unit invited a total of 18 Western calligraphers from the mainland, Macao, Vietnam and South Korea to participate in, displaying over 60 pieces of Western calligraphy artworks with strong aesthetic colors. Furthermore, in collaboration with MSC, part of the exhibits will be presented by means of advanced multimedia technologies such as AR and NFC, allowing the audience to enjoy Western calligraphy art while experiencing the interaction and visual impact brought by the technologies.

For celebrating Christmas, the Center will hold a prize game of 'The Treasure Hunt of Santa Claus' on its official WeChat account from December 19 to 28. As alwasys, admission to the Exhibition Center will be free on December 19 and 20 (the anniversary day and the next day of the Center), while the first 30 Macao resident visitors to each dome show at the Planetarium will also enjoy free admission. From December 19 to January 2 next year, the Planetarium will add dome shows from 11 a.m. to meet the leisure needs of the citizens and tourists during the holidays.

MSC is open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from Monday to Sunday regardless of public holidays. It is closed on Thursdays and Lunar New Year's Eve.
