Results of the Second International Contest on Popular Science Video Creation for the Promotion of Public Scientific Literacy Are Announced
A Number of Schools in Macao and the Macao Science Center Received Outstanding Results
The review of the Second International Contest on Popular Science Video Creation for the Promotion of Public Scientific Literacy directed by the China Research Institute for Science Popularization, organized by the Secretariat of the Preparatory Committee of the World Organization for Scientific Literacy and hosted by Zhihu Science has been completed. The results of the competition were announced earlier, and a number of films from Macao, including eight student entries recommended for the 2022 Youth Science Video Contest organized by the Macao Science Center, and a science education film produced by the Center's Education Department, were awarded. Films from Macao accounted for 20% of the first and second prizes, and 17% of the third prizes, making Macao one of the most awarded regions in the competition.
More than 10,000 entries from 19 countries and regions around the world participated in the Second International Contest on Popular Science Video Creation for the Promotion of Public Scientific Literacy. The organizing committee of the competition invited domestic and international experts to conduct several rounds of review on the content, scientificity, production level and communication of the entries, and finally selected five first prizes, 10 second prizes and 35 third prizes after a fierce competition.
From March to June 2022, Macao Science Center organized the 2022 Youth Science Video Contest and selected 20 entries from local students and one film produced by the Education Department of the Center to participate in the Second International Contest on Popular Science Video Creation for the Promotion of Public Scientific Literacy, including: The Biodiversity Quadrilogy produced by Sacred Heart Canossian College (English Section) won the first prize; the Greenhouse Effect and Sea Level Rise produced by Pui Ching Middle School, Macao, and Click Chemistry produced by the Education Department of Macao Science Center won the second prize; six films, namely Factors Affecting the Growth of Algae and IoT Connecting the World produced by Pui Ching Middle School, About Artificial Intelligence by Pooi To Middle School, Blockchain in Life by Keang Peng School (Secondary Section), Meeting in Virtual Space and Takeaway by Sheng Kung Hui Choi Kou School (Macao), won the third prize.
Macao Science Center is proud that the works produced by its Education Department and selected by the Center as well as those of Macao students have won prizes in the International Contest on Popular Science Video Creation, which demonstrates the Center's commitment to deepening its work as a science popularization and education base. The Center also hopes to continue to build a platform to display the achievements of science popularization and education and promote high technology in Macao by organizing or participating in other large-scale science popularization and education competitions in the future, better promoting science popularization and education for teenagers and facilitating the dissemination of scientific knowledge.
