Macao Science Center and the Faculty of Education of the University of Macau Co-organize "2023 STEAM X Picture Book X Story Telling" to Simulate Children's Interest in Science with Science Picture Books
Jointly organized by the Macao Science Center and the Faculty of Education of the University of Macau, hosted by the Macao Children's Literature Association and sponsored by SJM Resorts, Limited (SJM), the "2023 STEAM X Picture Book X Story Telling" event will be held on February 11 and 18 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hall of Nautical Science (Gallery 5) of the Exhibition Center, MSC, at which stories in science picture books will be told to children in a relaxing, fun and diversified manner. The event is designed to stimulate children's interest in science, improve their knowledge of science and promote the parent-child relationship.
The "2023 STEAM X Picture Book X Story Telling" will be held in the afternoon of the second Saturday of each month from February to December this year at the Macao Science Center. Teachers and students from the Faculty of Education of the University of Macau will cooperate with writers from the Macao Children's Literature Association to select fun science picture books of science (S), technology (T), engineering (E), art (A) and mathematics (M) for children. They will tell stories and share rich science knowledge with children in a lively way to guide them in inquiry-based learning. This event is free of charge and is suitable for children from upper kindergarten to P3 and their parents to experience the fun of parent-child reading.
Online registration for the event has been opened earlier. Due to the overwhelming public response, the quota of online registration for the event from February to June is now full, and the online registration for the event in the second half of the year will be available in early June. In addition to online registration, there will be 10 on-site registration quotas for each event. First come, first served. Interested children and parents are welcome to register at the lobby of the Center 20 minutes before the event starts.
In addition, the Macao Science Center is actively coordinating with the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) to set up a leisure reading space for parent-child science popularization and education to further enhance science popularization in Macao. This allows parents to enjoy their leisure time in the beautiful environment of the Center while reading science publications with their children to develop their interest in science.
