With the development of modern electronic information technology, the widespread application and popularization of technologies such as the Internet of Things, cloud computing and big data, the use of advanced smart technology for the construction and operation of science and technology venues is increasingly highlighted.

In order to implement the concept of standardization to lead the quality development of the industry and enhance the standardization of the industry of science and technology museums, the drafting team of the Guidelines for the Construction of Smart Science and Technology Museums of the Standardization Committee of the China International Association for Promotion of Science and Technology (CIAPST) held an online working meeting yesterday morning (February 22) to discuss and promote the smart construction of national science and technology museums and enhance the standardization and infrastructure construction of the science and technology museum system. The core issues cover the development, application and configuration of the five major areas of science and technology museums, including smart services, management, communication and education.

As one of the participants in the drafting and preparation of the group standard of the Guidelines for the Construction of Smart Science and Technology Museums, Dr. Pan Sio, Curator of the Macao Science Center, attended the working meeting, made a speech at the expert panel meeting on behalf of the Center, proposed suggestions for the construction techniques and specifications of smart science and technology museums, and shared his experience in the operation and management of smart science and technology museums.

The Macao Science Center will continue to actively fulfill its responsibility as a national science popularization and education base and propose suggestions to support the smart construction and standardized development of science and technology museums in China.

Representatives from science and technology museums and standardization research institutes who attended the drafting meeting of the group standard of the Guidelines for the Construction of Smart Science and Technology Museums and the project kick-off meeting include: Mr. Zheng Hualin, Deputy Secretary General of China International Association for Promotion of Science and Technology and Director of the Standardization Committee, Mr. Deng Ruide, former inspector of the Standardization Administration of the People's Republic of China and senior expert of the China Association for Quality Inspection, Mr. Wang Liming, researcher of China Research Institute for Science Popularization (CRISP), and Mr. Zhu Hongbo, General Manager of the Department of Public Utilities of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd.
