To celebrate International Women's Day on March 8, the Macao Science Center has adopted "Women Scientists" as the theme of this month, and organized a seminar on "Rejuvenating China through Science and Education - The Power of Women" and a science book reading session for parents and children with the Women’s General Association of Macau this afternoon (March 18), hoping to encourage young women to pursue their dreams and contribute to the development of China.

Ms. Mok Ian Ian, President of the Board of Directors of Macao Science Center Limited, delivered a speech at the seminar: Promoting science popularization and education for young people is the most important mission of Macao Science Center. By organizing various science popularization activities, implementing the MSC-School Collaboration Program and building a platform for science competitions, the Center guides the public, especially young people, to discover and understand a broader world beyond their daily view and activity space. The Center hopes to accompany women on the road of science popularization to use their power to influence their families and friends to understand science and love life, and create a better life.

Ms. Pun Chiu Hang, Vice President of the Macau Breastfeeding & Nurturing Promotion Association, was invited to be the keynote speaker of the seminar on "Rejuvenating China through Science and Education - The Power of Women". Based on "30% of Talent and 70% of Hardworking for Knowledge Evolution", she shared her growth story and her experience and challenges as a woman in science and technology with nearly 100 participants in the Planetarium.

The science book reading session for parents and children was also held at the MSC Convention Center, where science commentators from the Center told more than 40 children and their parents about the science picture book, The Magic Grass, and the story of Tu Youyou, a famous female scientist of China and Nobel Laureate in Medicine, to encourage more family reading activities and stimulate children's interest in science.

The event was attended by: Ms. Mok Ian Ian, President of the Board of Directors of Macao Science Center Limited, Ms. Un Sio Leng, President of the Women’s General Association of Macau, Mr. Sio Hon Pan, Director and Curator of Macao Science Center, as well as Vice Chairman Ms. Lei Ioi Hang, Vice Chairman Ms. Chan Oi Chu, Vice President Ms. Lei Choi Hong, Vice Chief Supervisor Ms. Mok Wai Weng and Vice Chief Supervisor Ms. Tang Wai Lin of the Women’s General Association of Macau.
