In order to support the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region to promote nationwide reading and implement the administrative idea of a "City of Reading" and encourage children and adolescents to cultivate the habit of lifelong reading, Macao Science Center (hereinafter referred to as "MSC" or the "Center") has launched a new campaign, "Reading Campaign of Science Picture Books", this year. This campaign is jointly held by the Center and the Faculty of Education, University of Macau, and sponsored by SJM Resorts, Limited, including the addition of "Science Picture Book Library" (hereinafter referred to as the "Library") to the lobby of the Exhibition Center, MSC. Meanwhile, "2023 STEAM X Picture Books X Storytelling" will be held at MSC every month so as to improve the mass scientific quality and offer a parent-child reading space.

MSC held the opening ceremony of the Library on the morning of March 25. A special session of "2023 STEAM X Picture Books X Storytelling" was held thereupon. Three social groups were invited, namely the Macao Federation of Neighborhood Associations, the Women's General Association of Macau, and the Macao Federation of Trade Unions, which focus on child development, parenting education, and parent-child reading. Approximately 60 people in 25 groups of parents and children participated in this event. The theme of the picture book was Green Mu Us. Both parents and children present deemed that, through the event, they enjoyed reading and acquired knowledge.

The officiating guests of the opening ceremony of the Library included: Mok Ian Ian, President of Macao Science Center Limited, Wong Ka Ki, Deputy Director of the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ), Daniel Shim, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of SJM Resorts, Limited, Wang Chuang, Dean of the Faculty of Education, University of Macau, Kuan Ho Weng, President of the Supervisory Committee of Macao Science Center Limited, Ng Siu-lai, President of the Macao Federation of Neighborhood Associations, Chong Leng Leng, Vice-President and Secretary General of the Women's General Association of Macau, and Leong Meng Ian, Deputy Director of the Macao Federation of Trade Unions. The Library is free, located in the lobby of the Exhibition Center. Its opening hours are the same as those of the Center. Parents are welcome to take their children to enjoy reading in the Center's beautiful environment.

"2023 STEAM X Picture Books X Storytelling" is held at 3:00 p.m. on the second Saturday of every month at the Hall of Nautical Science (Gallery 5) of the Exhibition Center, suitable for children from upper kindergarten to P3 and their parents. There will be 15 on-site registration quotas for each event. First come, first served. Interested children and parents are welcome to register at the lobby of the Center 20 minutes before the event starts.

MSC is open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from Monday to Sunday regardless of public holidays. It is closed on Thursdays and Lunar New Year's Eve.
