The Macao Science Center previously organized the “Macao Science Center Multimedia Design Contest 2015” to encourage the public to be more aware of science in our everyday lives, and through creativity and science technology to promote science education.

There are two categories in this contest: the “Science Education Video and Model Making” and the “Short Video Production”, and we received more than 50 entries. For the first time, the category “Science Education Video and Model Making” cooperated with the festive event of local museums - the theme of Macao International Museum Day Fair, “Mobile Museum – Talks in the A-Má Bamboo Theatre”. Since the of scaffolding professionals in Macao are interested to submit an application for scaffolding craftsmanship and bamboo theatre as intangible cultural heritage, the Center specially set the theme of the category “Science Education Video” as “bamboo scaffolding craftsmanship”, which required participants to produce a short education video to introduce the basic scientific principles, history and craftsmanship of bamboo scaffolding. Regarding the newly added category “model making”, it required participants to produce a model of bamboo theatre in order to easily explain to the public the basic technology of bamboo scaffolding and its wide application, which can spread the exquisite craftsmanship of the bamboo theatre while inheriting the traditional culture. The category “Short Video Production” requires participants to produce a short video with Macao Science Center as the theme.

Today, the Center holds the award presentation ceremony at the Convention Center of Macao Science Center. Our award presenters include, Mr. Lui Chak Keong, Macao Registered Architect and French Cultural Heritage Architect, Vice-Principal Leong Siu Wa of Chan Sui Ki Perpetual Help College, Mr. Lai Ming Tak, Advertising and Image Creation Director of Amateur Continuing Study iCenter, Mr. Chen Junhong, Foshan TV Producer and Director, Mr. ToTo Lam, YouTube Media Producer, and Mr. Oscar Leong, Education and Exhibits Controller of Macao Science Center. The winners will receive prizes and are invited to participate in the Macao International Museum Day Fair which will be held at the front square of the A-Ma Temple in the afternoon on May 17. They will have an opportunity to showcase their winning entries at the booth of Macao Science Center to share their results with the public.
