Vaccines - Guardian of Human Health Special Exhibition Opens at Macao Science Center Today
Multimedia Interaction Leads the Public to Explore the Past and Present Developments of Vaccines
Vaccines are one of modern medicine's greatest inventions. As the most economical and effective means of preventing and controlling infectious diseases, their invention and popularization have protected human beings from the threat of many deadly diseases. This afternoon, Macao Science Center held an opening ceremony for the Vaccines - Guardian of Human Health special exhibition that runs from today to October 23 at Gallery 2 of the Exhibition Center.
Sio Hon Pan, a director and a member of the Executive Committee of Macao Science Center Limited as well as curator of the Center, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. First of all, he thanked the Health Bureau for its strong support for the exhibition and for providing reference data on the development history and current status of vaccines and abundant professional opinions. At the same time, he thanked Guangdong Science Center for providing high-quality exhibitions for Macao Science Center, continuously leveraging the advantages of the two centers as members of the Alliance of Science Centers in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and sharing high-quality popular science education resources, in the hope that the public will continue to support the popular science education of Macao Science Center.
According to Qiu Yinzhong, deputy director of Guangdong Science Center and secretary-general of the Alliance of Science Centers in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, in his speech, vaccines are one of the most effective ways to prevent and control diseases and they play an important role in protecting human health. It is hoped that the exhibition can deepen the public's understanding of the working mechanism, R&D, production and applications of vaccines so that the public will actively support vaccination and vaccine research.
The Vaccines - Guardian of Human Health special exhibition is hosted by Guangdong Science Center and the Drug Administration of Guangdong Province, co-organized by Macao Science Center, and strongly supported by the Education and Youth Development Bureau and the Health Bureau. Through multimedia interactive forms such as graphics, models and videos, it comprehensively explains the scientific principles, R&D technologies, production processes, efficacy, applications and future development of vaccines, among other knowledge, so that visitors can learn in depth about the important role of vaccines in protecting human health and cultivate a healthy life philosophy that advocates the boosting of immunity. In particular, in cooperation with the Education and Youth Development Bureau and the Health Bureau, the exhibition features a special zone for Macao that introduces information such as the vaccination services in Macao, the review of nucleic acid testing stations, the history of pandemics in Macao, as well as various infectious diseases and their corresponding vaccines.
Officiating guests who attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition included: Lo Iek Long, director of the Health Bureau, Mok Ian Ian, president of the Board of Directors of Macao Science Center Limited, Cheong Man Fai, acting deputy director of the Education and Youth Development Bureau, Qiu Yinzhong, deputy director of Guangdong Science Center and secretary-general of the Alliance of Science Centers in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Kuan Ho Weng, president of the Supervisory Committee of Macao Science Center Limited, Sio Hon Pan, a director and a member of the Executive Committee of Macao Science Center Limited as well as curator of the Center, and U Hon Sang, a director and a member of the Executive Committee of Macao Science Center Limited.
