The Collective Wisdom Policy Center Visits Macao Science Center to Understand the Development Direction of Science Popularization and Education

In order to promote exchanges and cooperation between social service organizations and Macao Science Center, 20 members led by President Ho Ion-sang, Vice Chairman Sou Heng Fai, Vice Presidents Leong Hong Sai, Ngan Iek Hang, Cheong Sok Leng and Choi Seng Hong visited the Macao Science Center on March 15 to deeply learn about the recent science popularization and education and the development direction of Macao Science Center, and proposed many valuable suggestions on how to continuously improve the ancillary facilities and services of the Center, strengthen the dissemination of the development and achievements of national science and technology, and provide science popularization and education for the elderly, so as to actively respond to the direction of "Tourism + Education" boosted by the SAR Government and support the "1+4" moderately diversified development strategy of Macao.

Curator Sio Hon Pan, Board Member and Executive Committee Member, Board Member U Hon Sang, Deputy Curator Sylvester Cheong and heads of major departments of Macao Science Center Limited accompanied the delegation to learn more about the facilities of the Center and the concept of the "Program for the Development of Scientific Innovation Talent of Youth Science and Technology Village". They also visited the dome projection equipment at the Planetarium and learned about the astronomical science popularization and education program as well as the curriculum of the Science Popularization and Education Program for Students. The delegation then went to the Exhibition Center to visit various long-term galleries recently opened, including the Data Science Gallery, the Chinese Scientist Spirit Gallery and the Biodiversity Gallery, as well as the special exhibition "Vaccine: Guardian of Human Health", and listened to the detailed introduction by Curator Sio Hon Pan on the preparation process of the new galleries, the update plan, and the blueprint for the future development of the Center.

After the visit, both parties exchanged views. MSC introduced the science popularization and education programs and the efforts on science popularization and education regarding energy saving, carbon reduction and environmental protection of the Center. The Collective Wisdom Policy Center acknowledged the effectiveness of the Center's MSC-School Collaboration Program and the support for career planning for young people, affirmed the efforts made by the Center in cultivating more scientific innovation talent for Macao, and hoped that the two parties could enhance exchanges and cooperation in social services in the future.

With the strong support of the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ), Macao Science Center will cooperate with social service organizations to contribute to the enhancement of the scientific literacy of the public and the cultivation of more scientific innovation talent for Macao by vigorously performing its roles as the "National Science Popularization and Education Base" and the "National Scientist Spirit Education Base".
