Macao Science Center Will Launch Abundant Activities in September to Respond to the National Science Day
Free Admission to the Exhibition Center on September 17
To support the National Science Day launched by the China Association for Science and Technology in September, the Macao Science Center will launch various activities with the support of the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ), including "Starry Night" astronomical science popularization activities, lecture and workshop on "2023 Science × Read a Different World of Science" jointly organized with Macao Public Library of the Cultural Affairs Bureau. Admission to the Exhibition Center will be free of charge on National Science Day (September 17). Welcome to enjoy the fun of science popularization activities and enhance scientific literacy.
The Planetarium will organize two "Starry Night" astronomical science popularization activities in September. The event held on September 16 is "Planetarium's Secret". Apart from visiting the important components of the Planetarium's dome projection system, participants will have the opportunity to operate the dome screen and learn about the operational system of dome effect films as well as the basic operating principle of astronomical telescopes while exploring the universe. This activity is suitable for people aged 12 or above. No fees will be charged for this activity and limited places are available. From September 2 onwards, interested parties can apply for this activity through the Macao One Account APP. To celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival on September 29, MSC will hold a Mid-Autumn Moon Viewing activity at the seaside outside the Center for the public to observe the full moon and the craters on the moon's surface with telescopes. In addition, there will be astronomical light & shadow demonstrations, singing performances by street performers and game booths. The public is welcome to participate and learn about astronomy.
The lecture and workshop on "2023 Science X Read a Different World of Science" will be held in the afternoon of September 23 at the S. Lourenco Library. Oscar Leong, Controller of MSC Education and Exhibits Department, will serve as the guest speaker, explaining the science elements in daily life and interesting science experiments that can be carried out at home to cultivate children's interest in science. This activity is suitable for children aged 6-12 and their parents. Interested parties can apply for this activity through the Macao One Account APP. On the same day, the "Eco Market x Mundane Cosplay Contest" will be held at the Heart-shaped Tree Square of the Macao Science Center to encourage the public to practice green living.
Macao Science Center is open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from Monday to Sunday regardless of public holidays, and is closed on Thursdays and Lunar New Year's Eve (except for August 2023).
