The Number of Visitors to Macao Science Center in the First Eight Months of the Year Recovers to the Level Before the COVID-19 Pandemic

With the full opening of Macao to the outside at the beginning of the year and the continued recovery of the tourism industry, Macao Science Center has been launching special themed science popularization activities every month this year, and the cumulative number of visitors exceeded 473,900 in the first eight months of the year, which has already recovered to the level of the same period in 2019. At the beginning of the summer, the Center completed the upgrade of its lobby facilities, renovated a number of long-term galleries and launched new dome shows to build it into a good place for science learning and summer vacation, attracting many Macao residents and tourists. More than 86,700 visitors were recorded in July, up by 1.2% from the same period in 2019. In August, the Center opened its doors every day, recording nearly 100,000 visitors, 95% of the number of visitors in the same period in 2019.

In addition to the upgrade of lobby facilities, in the first half of the year, Macao Science Center opened the Science Picture Book Library and thematic long-term galleries such as the Chinese Scientist Spirit Gallery, the Data Science Gallery and the Biodiversity Gallery, and launched various science popularization and education exhibitions and programs, including the two brand new dome shows, Earth's Climate and We are Guardians. In the future, Macao Science Center will continue to improve its facilities, renovate other long-term galleries, and introduce more science popularization and education exhibitions and programs, including the Sustainable Development Gallery and the Astronomical Science Gallery - "Stargazer" to be opened soon. The Center seeks to promote the dissemination of high technology and science in various ways, bringing visitors a wealth of science knowledge and a whole new experience.

From September onwards, Macao Science Center is open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from Monday to Sunday regardless of public holidays, and is closed on Thursdays and Lunar New Year's Eve.
