Macao Science Center Will Launch a Series of Events to Celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day
Free Admission to the Exhibition Center Is Offered on October 1, the National Day
As we happen to have the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day in succession, Macao Science Center (MSC) will launch a number of online and offline events to enjoy a good time with the public. On the evening of September 29, the Mid-Autumn Festival, Mid-Autumn Moon Viewing will be held again at MSC Seaside, one of the best moon viewing hotspots in Macao, where citizens and tourists can use professional telescopes to observe the moon's full surface and craters in detail, enjoy astronomy-themed games on-site at the booths, and acquire more astronomical knowledge through entertainment. Meanwhile, the 3D Pen Lantern Making Workshop will be held in the Lobby of MSC to allow kids to DIY their unique rabbit-shaped lanterns and to lighten the festive atmosphere. On October 1 (the National Day), free admission is offered to visitors to the Exhibition Center and the first 30 visitors to each dome show at the Planetarium who are Macao residents.
In detail, the 3D Pen Lantern Making Workshop will be held at the FabLab in the Lobby of MSC at 6:30 p.m. in the Mid-Autumn Festival. The event is freely offered to a limited number of kids aged between 8 and 12 years old, and whoever is interested can visit the FabLab to register for the event between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the same day.
Furthermore, MSC will launch the WeChat mini-game of “Mooncake Searching Competition” on its official WeChat account (“澳門科學館MSC”) from now to October 4, where all participants will have a chance to win fabulous gifts of science education toys. You are welcomed to visit MSC during the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day, where you can attend “Vaccines--Defenders of Human Health”, a special exhibition that is currently being held at Gallery 2 of the Exhibition Center, to deepen your understanding of the scientific principles, R&D technologies, production processes, efficacy, applications, future development and other aspects of vaccines. Meanwhile, you are also welcomed to visit the two galleries that have just been open to the public recently, namely Biodiversity Gallery (Gallery 6) and Data Science Gallery (Gallery 12). Additionally, you may also enjoy the Storytelling Theater of “The Tree of Life: Charles Darwin” at Nautical Science Gallery (Gallery 5) to learn about Darwin's life, the theories of survival of the fittest and natural selection, and the origin of biodiversity.
On September 16 and September 23, MSC held two events of “2023 Parent-Child Science Education with Fun: MSC Night Tours” in order to support the “Learning Platform for Parents” promoted by the Education and Youth Development Bureau. A total of 80 kids aged between 6 and 12 years old and their parents were attracted to a plenty of interactive events for both fun and science education, including “Planetarium's Secret” and visits to the control room, the drama guided tour of “Tu Youyou Meets the Scientists” at Chinese Scientist Spirit Gallery, the drone experience, the programming and operation of robots, and the special firework show.
MSC is open between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. from Monday to Sunday regardless of public holidays, and is closed on Thursdays and Lunar New Year's Eve (except for August 2023). Please check the latest announcements on MSC's official website (www.msc.org.mo) and social media accounts for more event information and news.
