MELA Visits MSC to Learn about Science Popularization and Education

In order to promote exchanges and cooperation between social service organizations and Macao Science Center (MSC), President Lao Ka U of Macau Economic and Livelihood Alliance (MELA) led several members to visit MSC on October 27. They learned about the science popularization and education work conducted recently by MSC and offered multiple valuable suggestions on how to strengthen education in innovative science and technology, keep students informed of an overview of emerging industries in Macao, and assist teenagers to plan their careers as early as possible. It was hoped that both sides could reinforce exchanges and cooperation in the future and jointly drive the cultivation and development of scientific innovation talent in Macao.

Accompanied by Curator Sio Hon Pan, also Board Member and Executive Committee Member of Macao Science Center Limited, Board Member U Hon Sang and others from MSC, the delegation first went to the Planetarium to see the dome projection equipment and optimization facilities and got to know the astronomical science popularization and education program. Then at the FabLab, apart from visiting the main facilities, they listened to Curator Sio Hon Pan's introduction to the profile of the "Program for the Development of Scientific Innovation Talent of Youth Science and Technology Village" and the "Science Popularization Experimental Curriculum on BeiDou Navigation Satellite System" that was exclusively authorized to MSC. Afterward, President Kaman Lao and the delegation moved on to the Exhibition Center to visit many long-term galleries recently opened, including the Data Science Gallery, Chinese Scientist Spirit Gallery and NetLab, where they experienced a number of interactive exhibits. Moreover, they were informed of the content of the information innovation curriculum for trainees of the "Youth Science and Technology Village" and the software and hardware supporting facilities.

Other delegation members of the MELA included Vice Presidents and legislators Zheng Anting and Lo Choi In, and Vice Chairmen Ha Chon Ieng and Lei Iam Leong.
