Awarding Ceremony for 2023 Youth Science Video Contest Comes to a Successful Conclusion
The awarding ceremony for the "2023 Youth Science Video Contest" was held at the Ballroom of MGM Cotai yesterday (November 12), and 107 awards in total were presented. This contest was designed to enhance the scientific literacy of the youth, in the hope that participants could learn popular science knowledge in different fields and understand the development trend of science and technology during the course of the contest. This contest attracted 30 teams from primary and high schools in Macao and collected 256 entries. All award-winning entries will be recommended to participate in the "14th China Adolescents Science Video Festival".
The "2023 Youth Science Video Contest" was divided into three groups, i.e., primary school, junior high school, and senior high school. Each participating team was required to produce a popular science film either on themes including healthy life, natural environment and life, science and life, smart city, sustainability, biodiversity, high-tech, and universe and astronomy, or self-defined science popularization themes. The judging panel, consisting of organizer representatives and professionals and scholars in relevant fields, graded the entries according to the scientific expression, production techniques, and creativity of each popular science film.
Officiating guests who attended the awarding ceremony included: Wei GE, Vice President of the Association for Promotion of Science and Technology of Macau, Xu Aoao, President of the Macau Youth Science Education Association, U Hon Sang, a director and a member of the Executive Committee of Macao Science Center Limited, Cheong Man Fai, Head of the Department of Youth of the Education and Youth Development Bureau, Au Weng Chi, a member of the Macao Foundation Executive Council, Tong Wa Kuan, Chairman of Macau Youth Science Education Association, Vong Sao Kun, Head of the Department of Environmental Publicity and Education of Environmental Protection Bureau, Lam Tou, Senior Manager of the Information Systems and Technology Department of the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center, Leng Weng San, Deputy Secretary General of Chinese Educators Association of Macau, Sio Pek Leng, Director of Social Affairs at MGM, Cecilia Nip, Director of the Regulatory Affairs and Corporate Communications Office of the Macao Electric Lighting Company, Limited, and Lei Chi Fei, President of the Macao Astronomical Society.
The "2023 Youth Science Video Contest" was organized jointly by Macao Science Center (MSC), Association for Promotion of Science and Technology of Macau and Macau Youth Science Education Association, supported by the Education and Youth Development Bureau, Environmental Protection Bureau, Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center, Chinese Educators Association of Macau, Macao Astronomical Society and Macao Electric Lighting Company, Limited, and sponsored by Macao Foundation and MGM.
The films produced in the "2023 Youth Science Video Contest" can be reviewed on the "Online Educational Resource Platform" of the YouTube channel of MSC. The public can also visit MSC's website (www.msc.org.mo) to view the winners list.
