A fire broke out on the top floor of the Exhibition Center around 2:15pm today.

The Center immediately alerted the police and evacuated around 300 people including visitors, service contractors and employees to the front square outside the Center. Firefighters were at the scene soon after to extinguish the fire and confirmed that no one was injured or trapped. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Center is now evaluating the impact of this incident on its facilities and exhibits and the possible loss incurred.

While the Center inspects the fire protection facilities regularly to ensure proper function, staff members from all departments are required to participate in fire drills and are familiar with fire emergency procedures.

To ensure the safety of visitors, the Exhibition Center and Planetarium will be temporarily closed until further notice. The Convention Center, the lobby exhibition gallery and the restaurants in the lobby are not affected by today’s incident and shall open to public as usual.
