In celebration of the Center’s 6th anniversary and to show gratitude to our recurrent visitors, the Exhibition Center will re-open its door to the public on 19th December. Not only can visitors enjoy free admission to the Exhibition Center on 19th and 20th December, the Planetarium will also feature a new ultra-high definition dome show “MUSICA Why is the Universe beautiful” and offer free admission to the first 30 local audiences for each dome show on the same days.
“MUSICA Why is the Universe Beautiful” is the winner of the “Best Producer Choice Award” in IPS-MIFF2014. This is an unusual educational and entertaining full dome show that nourishes our artistic senses. It teaches what every scientist, musician, and artist knows intuitively: how the physics of sound and color, and the physical laws of nature that contributes to music and art, combine to create and govern everything in the universe. “MUSICA”, by using sound as a metaphor, gives us a new yet ancient way to look at the universe.
In addition, jointly organzied by Macao Science Center and the Macao Astronomical Society the Astronomical Photography Exhibition will be held at Gallery 2 of the Exhibition Center from 19th December to March 2016. The organizers hope to raise public interest in learning astronomy, and to share their experience in astonomical photoshooting while promoting the importance of dark starry skies conservation.
The exhibition showcases more than 100 pieces of astronomical photographs, in which 85 of them come from previous photography activities and are printed on the Astronomical Photography Collection published by the Macao Astronomical Society. The remaining photographs are provided by the Planetarium of the Macao Science Center. There are also a projection area, workshops and a portable dome theatre to allow visitors to experience the mystery of the starry sky from different angles.
A children’s Christmas workshop “Little Tinkers: LED Christmas Tree” and a new demonstration “Acoustic World” are now avaible at Exhibition Gallery 5. The Dino Coloring Contest is now open for entries. All local primary school students are welcome to join. On 24th December (Christmas Eve), the Planetarium will feature a workshop on astronomy. The recruiment of “Junior Science Communicator” will also start soon. For details, please visit the Center’s website.
