The Most Anticipated Exhibition of the Year Finally Opens to Public Welcome to the “Living Dinosaurs”!

Today, the Living Dinosaurs Exhibition was officially open to public. From now until the 11th of September, this unique and wonderful exhibition will be open to visitors at the Macao Science Center’s Exhibition Center Gallery 2.

Presiding our opening ceremony were officiating guests Ms. Un Pui In, Head of DSEJ’s School Administration and Management Department, Mr. Tong Chi Kin, Vice-President of Macao Science Center (MSC), Mr. Steven Lei, Vice-President of MSC, Mr. Pan Sio, Curator of MSC, Mr. Sylvester Cheong, Deputy Curator of MSC and Ms. Ada Chio, Regional Director of Communications, North Asia, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.

"Living Dinosaurs" was designed and produced by Imagine Exhibitions and Aurea Exhibitions with the scientific contribute of paleontologists Dr. Gregory M. Erickson, Dr. Sebastian Apesteguia and Dr. Adrian Giacchino. It is also supported by the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, the Pecking Natural Science-art Organization (PNSO) and Mandarin Oriental Macau Hotel.

Still considered a controversy, the true reason for the extinction of dinosaurs still fuels an ongoing debate among scientists. Visitors will learn about different dinosaur species, their behavior, their habitat, as well as the various roles they played during the Mesozoic era.

Through this exhibition’s 14 types of life-like mechanical replica dinosaurs, interactive virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) games, 72 small-scale dinosaur models and e-books the public will be able to perceive how dinosaurs appeared on Earth and dominated the planet for over 160 million years. Furthermore, MSC shall hold a series of activities for visitors of all ages, such as school collaboration, science talks, parent-child workshops, dramatic guided tours, science drama, Night out at the Science Center, Drawing Contest and Writing Contest.

To better promote the “Living Dinosaurs” Exhibition, the Center launched a Multimedia Contest and a Dino Colouring Contest, both of which exceeded our most positive expectation, with the latter receiving over 1,500 primary student participants from 47 local schools. The award-winning works of the Dino Colouring Contest will be on display at the Center’s lobby exhibition gallery.

Our "Little Science Communicators” training has also paid off and you will be impressed by the knowledge shown by our 8 to 12 year old local student guides.

Last but not least, travel back in time with our Planetarium’s newest dome show “Dinosaurs at Dusk: the origins of flight 3D”. This dome show let’s audience witness the adventure of a father and his teenage daughter Lucy, who meet the pterosaurs and the ancestors of modern-day birds: the feathered dinosaurs. While on their search, they witness first-hand the asteroid impact that whipped out the dinosaurs. This enticing dome show won the Innovative FullDome Production Award at the 2013 Jena Fulldome Festival.
