In order to celebrate the annual International Museum Day, on May 8 the Macao Science Center will participate in the "2016 Macao International Museum Day Carnival" in front of Calçada da Igreja de São Lázaro, together with approximately 20 participating themed museums from across Macao.

This is the Macao Science Center's ninth consecutive year to participate in the Macao International Museum Day Celebration. In response to the event theme of "The Mobile Museum - The Blending of Chinese and Western Cultures in Macao", the Science Center has specially designed related lectures and parent-child workshops. Science Center representatives have invited senior architect Andre Lui Chak Keong to give the lecture "The Decryption of Macao Grand Fort" at 5:00pm on May 8 at 10 Fantasia. He will describe in detail the secret history of the Fortifications of Macao from the perspectives of military strategy, weapon design, and geometric and physical analysis. At 3:00pm the same day, Macao Science Center researcher Carlos Yip will give a separate lecture about "The Style and Characteristics of Western Architecture", enabling the precious remnants of Macao's architectural legacy to become a bridge for the public to learn about history.

In addition, on the day of these events, the Macao Science Centre will hold three unique workshops at the St. Joseph Diocesan College of Macao, 1st Branch, next to St. Lazarus' Church. Participants will attempt to make souvenirs with their own hands commemorating Macao's architectural characteristics, including: 3D World Heritage: Hand-made Pop-up Book of Macao World Heritage; 3D Street Sign: Hand-made Magnetic Sticker with 3D Pen; and 3D Holograms. The public is invited to participate.

As with previous years, the Macao Science Center continues the tradition of International Museum Day. On May 18 (Monday), the exhibition centre will be open all day free of charge.
